🧭 Why Actors Need a Website (Not Just a Linktree)
Casting directors, agents, and collaborators need one place to:
See your headshots, reels, and resume
Contact you directly
Access your casting profiles
Learn who you are and what you do
You own your website. You don’t own social media—and when Instagram glitches or TikTok changes, your website stays standing.
💼 Treat Your Career Like a Business
One of the things I always say is this: Your career is a business—and every business needs a storefront.
Your website is your digital storefront. It’s the professional space where people can learn about you, connect with your work, and see what you’re building. Claiming your online presence (with yourname.com!) gives you room to grow, adapt, and expand as your career evolves.
Over time, it becomes a place where you can:
Promote your shows and projects
Showcase your education, teaching, or speaking work
Sell services or products
Build an email list
Even earn income in more ways than you ever thought possible
But don’t overcomplicate it. Just start with a simple, clear place to claim your real estate online and treat your career like the brand it truly is.
🎨 What to Include on Each Page of Your Actor Website
Based on my full Squarespace tutorial video
Whether you're DIY-ing your site or working with a coach like me, here’s what I recommend for each page of your actor site:
🏠 Homepage
Your homepage is your first impression. Keep it clear, clean, and fast to navigate.
Must-Haves:
One strong headshot, show photo or lifestyle image
A short, clear intro (1–2 sentence bio)
Buttons linking to your resume, reel, and casting profiles
Optional: A short intro video or embedded reel
🎯 Think of this page like your digital business card.
👤 About Page
This is where your story shines.
Include:
A short, personal artist bio
Career highlights or shifts (school, tour, cruise, major regional work, etc.)
Optional: Testimonials or press quotes
Optional: A fun or unique personal touch (like your love of yoga or that you work in both NYC and LA)
💡 Let people see the artist and the human behind the credits.
🎥 Media Page
Your visual resume.
Recommended layout:
Reel at the top
Clips broken into categories (Vocal, Acting, Dance)
High-res headshots with download links
Resume PDF embedded or downloadable
🧼 Keep it scrollable, clean, and intuitive.
🎭 Casting Kit Page
Create a dedicated digital hub for all your submission essentials.
Include:
Links to your casting profiles (Actors Access, Casting Networks, Backstage)
Downloadable resume and headshot
Reels and clips
Most recent work
📂 This page makes it easy to submit your materials at a moment’s notice.
📬 Contact Page
Make it easy for people to reach you while protecting your privacy.
Include:
A contact form
Your email (not your phone number!)
Social media if you feel comfortable
Optional: Links to your casting profiles
Optional: Agent and manager contact if you have them
Optional: Newsletter sign-up form to build your email list
🚫 Never post personal info like your phone or address publicly.
🔧 Other Pages You Might Add
Depending on your career and needs, consider adding:
Events Page – For shows, concerts, cabarets, or tours
Scheduling Page – For coaching or consult bookings (use Acuity)
Blog – Especially useful for thoughtful leadership, SEO, or teaching/coaching/consulting services if you offer them like I do
Donate or Store – Great for fundraising, merch, or selling services
💻 The Platform I Recommend (and Use Myself)
I use Squarespace for my own website and every client I build with.
Why I recommend it:
Drag-and-drop design
Beautiful, clean templates
Built-in scheduling, email marketing, and even payment tools
Great for both performers and multi-hyphenates
📦 My entire business—from actor site to coaching to client management to this very blog you’re reading right now—is built on this one platform.
✅ Done Is Better Than Perfect
You don’t need to overthink every font, layout, or detail before launching. The goal is to have a professional online presence that evolves with your career and gives you full control over how you’re seen.
So claim your name, start building, and let casting see who you really are.
